In our position within modernity we are surrounded on all sides by endless humanity. Wherever we look we see reflections only of ourselves. But beyond the domain of that all-too-human world we may enter into the other-world of the inhuman. We may encounter that vastness beyond ourselves that re-opens us to an encounter with the sacred, the divine beyond our modern solipsism.
Pathways is a project exploring this deeply spiritual, existential, and philosophical role of walking in natural spaces. The project is comprised of, as the title indicates, a collection of images made on my numerous walks in the forested regions near my home in the Pacific Northwest.
The project is currently ongoing.
