August Morning on a 28

Wherein I walk around town with a Leica and the 28mm

Leica M262 + TTA 28/5.6

I spent this morning working with Ruckus at a local park. I’d initially hoped to be able to bring him in to work before open where he’d be in close proximity to people in order to work on some reactivity training, but a change of plans had us wandering around a park for about an hour. All in all it was a pretty beautiful morning and he did great in his interactions with people, dogs. cars, etc.. There’s something about these beautiful summer mornings in Montana that have always been especially magical to me. The way the light plays across the landscape is something that’s always felt special ever since I was a little kid.

When I got home it was still early in the morning so I decided to grab the camera and take a walk around the neighborhood. I hadn’t done it in a while and it was nice to get out for a walk and just get back to walking, seeing, experiencing. I decided to grab the Leica this time, and since it already had the old TTA 28mm on it, I just left that lens on and headed out the door. Haven't shot the 28 in a minute but it was surprisingly natural. I think it also helped to shoot the M262 with the external finder. It’s a bit more like shooting the 28 on an SLR since you’re just looking through what is essentially a 28mm FOV window.

I initially had the JPEG settings in black and white so I was seeing everything in black and white when looking at the images on the back of the camera, but, as is the trend lately I didn’t like much of the work in black and white and all of it seemed to come together right in color. So, I’m a color guy now. After decades (okay, maybe one decade) of only working in black and white. Wild.

That’s all folks
